My Two Cents on Creating a Spa-like Bath Retreat

Can we talk about dreams come true for a moment or two?  Yes? Great!!! Although I’ve had a few of my dreams come recently, the one I’d like to share with you today is this…….guys, THIS IS MY NEW MASTER BATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are so many things about this house that I absolutely adore, but personally this is my favorite!!!!  I had a soaking tub years ago and have missed it every day since. Maybe not every day but trust me, there have been a lot of them!!! Literally one of the first things that I set out to accomplish was a bath tray.  I started pinning bath tray ideas before we even got to Alabama. You can follow me on Pinterest here. Here are just a few.

I love the subway tile in this bathroom, which I’m happy to report that my shower has subway tile! I also love how the faucet and knobs are on the wall and not a part of what seems to be a stand alone tub. Plus, candles. Enough said.

I really like the rustic bath tray, candles (of course) and the addition of flowers. I’m not sure that there is any benefit to adding flowers to your bath water except a pretty picture. I still may try it :)

I shared this pin to show you that you don’t have to a fancy stand alone/soaking tub to create a spa-like retreat for yourself. I love the subway tile and how they continued with the black and white design while styling the tub. Adding a plant is always a bonus!!

I only became “slightly” obsessed, seriously, it wasn’t even that bad. Lol  I looked at options on Amazon but they all seemed to standard, which is fine, but I wanted something a little more me, plus they were a bit pricey.  A few weeks ago we made the trek to Atlanta to go to IKEA and I found these two shelves in the as is section.

I didn’t originally plan to use one as tray but it just so happens that one is long enough to be used as a bath tray!!!!!  Insert happy dance here!!!! So now comes the fun part!  One thing we did get slightly obsessive about after moving here is plants.  Every time we walked into Lowes or Home Depot my crew immediately went to the garden section.  Eventually, I joined them.

It’s so addicting!!!! Also, some of these plants were not mine, Like maybe two. heh heh heh

The next thing I did was find some flower pots and containers in colors that I wanted to bring to the bathroom, which happened to be pink.  I don’t think I’ve ever really used pink in my decorating, but there’s just something about a creating a space that is going to nurture and nourish not only your exterior but your interior as well.  The hushed pink and blush tones just spoke to me. Notice that I went with a few plants that brought the same colors in.

I had a few of the items on hand already, such a the milk glass vase, the driftwood, the pink hobnail container and a few other things. My daughter bought me the llama print for Christmas and I think she’ll be a fun addition to this space.  I added a few old brass candlesticks that I had on hand, but they’re still in need of candles.

I made sure to grab some bath salts and bubble bath as well.  I will most definitely switch this tray up frequently, adding and taking things away to suit my need or my mood.  One night I cleared off the majority of plants to make room for my laptop so that I could Netflix and bathe if you will :)

Definitely need more candles.

The rest of the space is still evolving and waiting to find it’s identity.  Currently I’m torn between the fancy finishes in here and my love and need for a bit of boho.

I hope that you feel inspired to create your own bath retreat! Remember, you don’t have to spend a ton (if any) money. Shop your house for likely and unlikely things to add to your shelf. Have fun with it and make it uniquely you!!!

Happy soaking!!!!
